Description: THE APPLICATION OF STEEL STRUCTURES EXTENDS FAR BEYOND THE CLASSIC FIELDS OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING LIKE BUILDINGS AND BRIDGES. ACCORDINGLY, STEEL STRUCTURES ARE USED IN TELECOMMUNICATION AND TRANSMISSIONTOWERS, SILOS, TANKS, PALLET RACKING SYSTEMS, CANOPIES, MARINE STRUCTURES, WIND TOWERS, SUPPORTS OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS AND OTHERS. DEPENDENT ON THE CASE, THESE STRUCTURES ARE SUBJECTED TO QUASI STATIC AND DYNAMIC LOADING SUCH AS PERMANENT AND LIVE LOADING, TEMPERATURE CHANGES, SNOW, WIND, EARTHQUAKES, WAVE LOADING ETC. THEIR BEHAVIOUR MAY BE STUDIED BY APPLICATION OF EXPERIMENTAL, ANALYTICAL OR NUMERICAL METHODS, COMBINED WITH IN SITU MONITORING OF THE STRUCTURAL RESPONSE. SCOPE OF THE PRESENT PROJECT IS THE STUDY OF THIS BEHAVIOUR BY APPLICATION OF THE ABOVE METHODS, DEPENDING ON THE CASE.
