Description: | THE VENETIAN BUILDING OF AGIOS GEORGIOS PRESENTS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DUE TO ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND LACK OF MAINTENANCE. THE MEASURES THAT WILL BE PROPOSED WILL RESULT FROM ANALYSIS THAT WILL BE BASED ON THE GEOMETRY, THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE SUPERSTRUCTURE, THE SOIL AND THE ANTICIPATED SEISMIC LOADS. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERVENTIONS FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE BUILDING AND THEIR STRENGTHENING AGAINST SEISMIC LOADS WILL BE INVESFIGAFED.THE RESEARCH AND PROPOSALS THAT WILL BE CONDUCTED FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE MONUMENT WILL RESULT FROM A TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY, AN ARCHITECTURAL STUDY AND A STATIC AND SEISMIC STATE-OF-THE-ART INVESTIGATION OF THE BUILDING BEHAVIOUR IN CONJUNCTION WITH MEASUREMENTS TO COLLECT THE NECESSARY DATA, IN ORDER TO CALCULATE THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND THE MASONRY TYPE, AND THEN ΤΟ CONDUCT THE ANALYSIS. THE SEISMIC HAZARD OF THE AREA AND THE VULNERABILITY OF THE CHURCH TO SEISMIC LOADS WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. |
