Description: | THE PROJECT AIMS AT DEVELOPING A NOVEL WAVE ATTENUATOR CONCEPT FABRICATED FROM BIOFRIENDLY MATERIALS SUCH AS BIOCOMPOSITES. THE WAVE ATTENUATOR ON THE TOP SIDE WILL HOST FLEXIBLE PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS BASED ON THIN FILM TECHNOLOGY TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY GENERATED COMBINED WITH THERMOELECTRIC DEVICES BASED ON THE SAME SEMINCONDUCTOR TYPE. THE PHOTOVOLTAICS WILL OPERATE AT INCREASED TEMPERATURE UP TO 60 DEGREES CELSIUS WHILST THE COOL SIDE WILL BE AT SEA TEMPERATURE 10-15 DEGREES CELSIUS. MOREOVER, ALONG THE MOORING LINES ADDITIONAL STRUCTURES WILL BE ADDED TO ACCOMMODATE MARINE LIFE AT DIFFERENT DEPTHS. A NOVEL DESIGN WILL BE USED FOR THE MOORINGS TO ALLOW MARINE LIFE AT SEABED OR CLOSE TO SEABED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NOVEL DEVICE. THE PROPOSED SYSTEM WILL BE OPTIMISED FOR DEPTHS FROM 5M UP TO 400M. |
