Description: | THE OBJECT OF THIS PROJECT IS TO INVESTIGATE THE APPLICATION OF THE OPTIMAL CROSS-SECTION OF FLEXIBLE ROAD SURFACES IN THE TRAFFIC LANES, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PATRA - PYRGOS HIGHWAY, IN THE SECTION: KATO ACHAIA - VARDA. THE AIM IS TO MAINTAIN THEIR LOAD-BEARING CAPACITY, WITH A TIME HORIZON OF 20 YEARS OF OPERATION AND A 10-YEAR WARRANTY AFTER THE DELIVERY OF THE MOTORWAY. FOR THIS PURPOSE AND IN ORDER TO FORMULATE PROPOSALS FOR OPTIMIZING THE CROSS-SECTION OF THE ROAD SURFACES TO BE CONSTRUCTED, RECENT TRAFFIC DATA WILL BE UTILIZED AND APPROPRIATELY PROCESSED. INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED METHODS AND STANDARDS, THE RELEVANT INTERNATIONAL PRACTICE, AS WELL AS THE RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW OF THE RESEARCH TEAM WILL BE UTILIZED. THE RELEVANT ANALYZES WILL BE PRIMARILY BASED ON THE FRENCH METHOD OF DESIGNING FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS, AS WELL AS ON VARIATIONS OF THE METHOD DERIVED FROM THE GREEK EXPERIENCE. |
