Description: HALIDE PEROVSKITES ARE A PROMISING FAMILY OF SEMICONDUCTING MATERIALS WITH OUTSTANDING PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL AND OPTOELECTRONIC PROPERTIES THAT HAVE RECENTLY REVOLUTIONIZED THE FIELD OF PHOTOVOLTAICS. SYSTEMATIC RESEARCH IN THE FIELD IMPROVED OUR UNDERSTANDING AND INSIGHTS ON ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE, REACTIVITY, NATURE OF DEFECTS AND IONIC CONDUCTIVITY. THIS PROJECT WILL SPECIFICALLY DEAL WITH THE SUBCLASS OF HYBRID (ORGANIC-INORGANIC) HALIDE PEROVSKITES (ABX3 AND A2BX6). IT FOCUSES ON THE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING AND CONTROL OF THE STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES RESULTING FROM THE COMBINATION OF VARIOUS CATIONIC AND ANIONIC ELEMENTS AND CHEMICAL SPECIES OCCUPYING THE POSITIONS IN THE CENTRAL METAL (PB, SN, BI, SB, …), THE OCTAHEDRAL VERTICES (I, BR, CL) AND THE INTERSTITIAL LATTICE SITES (MA, FA, CS,…) AND IS EXPECTED TO: (I) YIELD NOVEL, LOW-TOXICITY PEROVSKITES WITH TARGETED OPTOELECTRONIC PROPERTIES AND CONTROLLABLE DEFECTS, (II) IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY AND STABILITY OF PEROVSKITE OPTOELECTRONIC DEVICES (PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR CELLS) AND (III) CONTRIBUTE IN THE UPSCALING AND COMMERCIAL EXPLOITATION OF THE ABOVE DEVICES.
