Description: AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, SEVERAL WATER (SURFACE AND GROUNDWATER) AND SOIL SAMPLES WILL BE TAKEN TO INVESTIGATE THE ROLE OF MICROPLASTICS IN THE DEGRADATION OF SOIL AND WATER RESOURCES. THE CASE STUDIES SELECTED FOR THIS INVESTIGATION ARE CHARACTERISED BY INTENSIVE ANTHROPOGENIC ACTIVITIES AND CRUCIAL GEOGENIC FACTORS THAT DETERMINE THE QUALITY OF SOIL AND WATER RESOURCES. FOR ALL SAMPLES, IN SITU PHYSICAL PARAMETERS WILL BE MEASURED AND COMPREHENSIVE CHEMICAL ANALYSES WILL BE PERFORMED, INCLUDING MAJOR IONS AND METALS/METALLOIDS. THE QUANTIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF MICROPLASTICS IN THE WATER AND SOIL SAMPLES IS CARRIED OUT BY OPTICAL MICROSCOPY AND RAMAN MICROSPECTROSCOPY
