Description: THE SWARM PROJECT AIMS TO REVOLUTIONIZE SUSTAINABLE PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLING PRACTICES WITHIN HIGHER EDUCATION
INSTITUTIONS IN SOUTH AFRICA AND NIGERIA, PROMOTING INTER-REGIONAL AND INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION. BY MODERNIZING EDUCATION AND
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES, SWARM SEEKS TO EQUIP INDIVIDUALS WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS FOR ADOPTING INNOVATIVE, SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES
AND METHODOLOGIES. THIS INITIATIVE WILL ENHANCE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT TRAINING, FOSTER RECYCLING AND RESOURCE RECOVERY, AND
FACILITATE TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER THROUGH INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION. WITH A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH ACROSS MULTIPLE WORK PACKAGES,
SWARM ASPIRES TO CREATE A REPLICABLE MODEL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, CONTRIBUTING SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY
AGENDA.
THE SWARM CONSORTIUM, A COLLABORATION OF 3 SOUTH AFRICAN AND 3 NIGERIAN HEIS WITH EUROPEAN PARTNERS, EMPLOYS INNOVATIVE
METHODOLOGIES TO BUILD CAPACITY IN SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT. THROUGH WORKSHOPS, TRAINING SESSIONS, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF
VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS, SWARM AIMS TO PRODUCE TANGIBLE OUTPUTS LIKE ENHANCED CURRICULA, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SWARM HUBS,
AND OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES. THIS MULTIFACETED APPROACH ENSURES THE PROJECT'S SUSTAINABILITY AND ITS ABILITY TO SERVE AS A MODEL FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND PRACTICES GLOBALY.
