Description: IN MODERN NETWORKS, AMONG THE MAIN INTERESTS AND SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGES IS THE JOINT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF ALGORITHMS AND METHODS THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY MANAGE TELECOMMUNICATION/NETWORK AND COMPUTING RESOURCES. IN THIS CONTEXT AND IN THIS SPECIFIC PROJECT EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE OPTIMIZATION, MANAGEMENT AND ORCHESTRATION OF RESOURCES AND SERVICES IN 5G/6G NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURES THAT SUPPORT HETEROGENEOUS APPLICATIONS. IN PARTICULAR, THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT ARE: A) ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM OF EFFICIENT RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN HETEROGENEOUS AND MULTI-LAYERED WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS IN A HOLISTIC, BUT DISTRIBUTED, WAY, B) THE SUPPORT OF COMPUTING OFFLOADING TECHNIQUES IN INFRASTRUCTURES THAT SUPPORT COMPUTING AT THE EDGES OF THE NETWORK, INCLUDING WIRELESS COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING, C) THE DESIGN OF ALGORITHMS THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY SUPPORT COMMUNICATION AND SENSING, D) THE DEVELOPMENT OF APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN SMART ENERGY NETWORKS, E) THE SUPPORT OF SUSTAINABLE METAVERSE SYSTEMS AND DIGITAL TWINS.
