Description: THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT IS THE ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT ON THE ATMOSPHERIC ENVIRONMENT FROM THE INSTALLATION OF TWO NEW GAS TURBINES AT THE ELEUSIS REFINERY OF HELLENIC PETROLEUM R.S.S.O.P.P. S.A. IN ORDER TO CHECK COMPLIANCE WITH THE LIMITS OF THE LEGISLATION, THE CONCENTRATIONS OF NITROGEN DIOXIDE (NO2) AND SULPHUR DIOXIDE (SO2) WILL BE CALCULATED FOR ALL HOURS OF A REPRESENTATIVE YEAR. THE AERMOD DISPERSION MODEL OF USA/EPA WILL BE USED AND THE CALCULATIONS WILL BE BASED ON THE METEOROLOGICAL DATA OF THE ELEUSIS STATION OF HELLENIC NATIONAL METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE (HNMS) AND THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE MEASUREMENT DATA OF THE HELLINIKON STATION OF HNMS. ALSO, THE EMISSIONS FROM ALL CHIMNEYS OF THE REFINERY WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT FOR THE CURRENT AND FUTURE SITUATION, WHILE THE MEASUREMENTS OF LOCAL AIR QUALITY MONITORING STATIONS WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF EXCEEDING THE LIMITS. FINALLY, A SPECIAL COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS MODEL (CFD) WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMAL HEIGHT OF THE GAS TURBINES CHIMNEY.
