Description: | FUTURE SATELLITES WILL REQUIRE NARROWER BEAMS FOR SIGNIFICANT COMMUNICATIONS CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT, BUT VERY LARGE SOLID REFLECTORS DO NOT FIT INTO EXISTING LAUNCHERS. IN LINE WITH THE MATURATION OF MANY DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES IT IS INCREASINGLY LIKELY THAT IN THE NEAR TERM IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO PERFORM ASSEMBLY OF LARGER SPACE STRUCTURES. THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON GUIDANCE, NAVIGATION, AND CONTROL OF ROBOTIC SYSTEMS ASSEMBYING IN-ORBIT LARGE ANTENNAS, AIMING AT UNLOCKING A LEAP IN ANTENNA PERFORMANCE IN LOW EARTH ORBIT OR GEOSTATIONARY ORBIT. |
