Description: | A NOVEL, HIGHLY EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY, TO ENABLE THE SYNTHESIS OF CARBON NEUTRAL FUELS AND CHEMICALS FROM CO2 AND H2O POWERED BY THE HYBRID ACTION OF SOLAR HEAT AND RENEWABLE POWER IS PROPOSED. THE APPROACH IS BASED ON INNOVATIVE, FUNCTIONALIZED STRUCTURED REACTOR TECHNOLOGY THAT PRODUCES COST-EFFECTIVELY GREEN PRECURSORS (CO & H2) FOR CARBON NEUTRAL FUELS AND CHEMICALS. THE TECHNOLOGY ENABLES REDUCTION-OXIDATION (REDOX) PROCESSES AT SUFFICIENTLY LOW TEMPERATURES WITH UNPRECEDENTED EFFICIENCY THAT OVERCOME MANY OF THE KEY CHALLENGES OF EXISTING THERMOCHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIES. THE REACTOR IS INSPIRED FROM A LONG EXPERIENCE OF THE CONSORTIUM WITH MONOLITHIC REACTORS FOR AUTOMOTIVE EMISSION CONTROL AND PAST AWARD-WINNING SOLAR THERMOCHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, SUPPLEMENTED BY A RADICAL INNOVATION IN MATERIALS AND REACTOR ENGINEERING THAT CAN RESULT IN VERY HIGH AND COSTEFFECTIVE CONVERSION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY INTO CHEMICALS/FUELS UNDER NON DEMANDING TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS. |
