Description: A MODEL OF TURBOFAN ENGINES WILL BE DEVELOPED, WHICH WILL ALLOW THE GENERATION OF INFORMATION FOR THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS USING HIGH-FIDELITY METHODS. THE COMPONENTS TO BE MODELED WILL INCLUDE COMPRESSORS, TURBINES, COMBUSTION CHAMBERS, AND ANNULAR DUCTS. THE COMPRESSOR AND TURBINE MODELS WILL BE ONE-DIMENSIONAL AND WILL USE EMPIRICAL RELATIONSHIPS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL BLADES TO SYNTHESIZE OVERALL PERFORMANCE. FOR THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, NETWORKS OF CONNECTED ELEMENTS WILL BE USED. THE ANNULAR DUCTS WILL BE MODELED WITH A MERIDIONAL FLOW MODEL. THE COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS DEVELOPED WILL BE APPLIED TO A CASE OF A TURBOFAN ENGINE WITH A MEDIUM BYPASS RATIO.
