Description: | BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS REFER TO SUBSTANCES (OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS, LYCOPENE, PLANT PROTEINS, CAROTENOIDS, FIBERS, ETC.) THAT EXHIBIT BENEFICIAL PROPERTIES FOR THE HUMAN BODY. THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH PROJECT IS TO EXPAND OUR RESEARCH TEAM'S KNOWLEDGE ON THE METHODS OF EXTRACTING SELECTED BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES AND UTILIZING THEM TO CREATE NEW PRODUCTS. THE STAGES OF THE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Τ1: LITERATURE REVIEW TO DETERMINE THE EXAMINED BIOACTIVE INGREDIENTS AND THEIR POTENTIAL USE IN THE PRODUCTION SECTOR (FOOD, COSMETICS, ETC.). Τ2: SELECTION OF PRIMARY SOURCES AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE RECOVERY OF THE TESTED BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS USING VARIOUS ISOLATION TECHNIQUES (E.G., HIGH-PRESSURE EXTRACTION). Τ3: INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR EXPLOITING THE ISOLATED BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS THROUGH VARIOUS TECHNIQUES (E.G., EXTRUSION, SPRAY DRYING, ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC PROCESS, ETC.) WITH THE AIM OF CREATING NEW PRODUCTS. |
