Description: KORONESIO COMPLEX IS LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE AMVROKIKO GULF, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WETLANDS IN GREECE AND THE MEDITERRANEAN. IT IS A SET OF SMALL ISLANDS, THE LARGEST OF WHICH (KORONESIO) IS INHABITED. IN ADDITION TO A HIGH-QUALITY NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, THE PLACE HAS A RICH HISTORY AND CULTURE THAT SPANS CENTURIES, WHILE THE AREA'S ENVIRONMENTAL IMPORTANCE IS CONTRASTED BY THE CURRENT SOCIAL CONDITIONS, AS THE AREA IS DECLINING IN POPULATION AND DEVELOPMENT. THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM IS THE SYSTEMATIC RESEARCH AND EVALUATION OF THE KORONESIA COMPLEX, OS A NATIVE ELEMENT OF THE NATURE OF THE AMVRAKION SEA. A PLACE WITH IMPORTANT SPATIAL, AND HUMAN-SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS, A COMPLEX "CULTURAL LANDSCAPE" WITH STRONG DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL, WHICH SHOULD BE HIGHGGHTED AND PROJECTED. THE RESEARCH WILL LEAD TO THE FORMULATION OF DIRECTIONS FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, PROTECTION, AND PROMOTION OF THE LANDSCAPE ANA THE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF THE REGION, AS PART OF AN IMPORTANT ECOSYSTEM AND ALSO AS A POLE OF CULTURAL INTEREST.
